<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that the shape of a dark point or blind point detected by a conventional perimeter is extremely rough and visual field disorder in an initial stage can not be detected. Ž<P>SOLUTION: This method for operating a visual field scanning device includes a visual field scanning screen forming step, a fixation target display controlling step, a target scanning line setting step, a target display controlling step, a stationary display controlling step, a dynamic display position memory step, a dynamic display controlling step, a detection step for detecting a point of time when the dynamic scanning started by the target is recognized by the visual field of an examinee, a detection position memory step, a distance memory step, a visual field mapping screen forming step, a visual field mapping rectangle forming step, a visual field mapping rectangular image processing step for painting out the visual field mapping rectangle by the color corresponding to the distance stored by the distance memory step, a same scanning line scanning succeeding step, and a step for transferring scanning to a next scanning line.
