A tie formed of resilient flexible material for example synthetic plastics material or rubber comprises a strip-like portion 1 and a wider portion 2, which is at one end of the strip-like portion the wider portion being provided with an open sided groove 3 of T-shaped cross section such that for fastening the tie the strip-like portion can be drawn through the groove and is engaged in the wider part of the groove when the tie is in use and for loosening the tie the strip-like portion can be pulled laterally out of the groove, teeth 10 being provided in a row on one side of the portion 1 and also in a row on the bottom of the groove, the arrangement being such that when the tie is fastened some of the teeth 10 on the portion 1 engages some of the teeth 10a on the bottom of the groove. In the construction shown the strip-like portion has a narrower part 5 to facilitate engagement with the groove and a handling disc is provided at the end of the narrower part. The portions on the head which define the narrower entrance to the groove are reinforced by lugs 2<SP>1</SP>. A recess 23 is provided in the portion 2 at one end of the groove 3 which accommodates part of the portion 1 when the tie is fastened. Wedge-like portions 1<SP>1</SP> are provided between the portion 1 and part 5 to facilitate drawing of the portion 1 into the groove 3. |
