<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel cell system for restraining fuel from being uselessly discharged during purge after starting a fuel cell. <P>SOLUTION: When anode scavenging is not carried out in stopping power generation (S100, No), an amount of purge is calculated on the basis of a normal map (S500). When the anode scavenging is carried out (S100, Yes), an amount of moisture in a fuel circulation passage is detected on the basis of the integrated sum of power generation of the fuel cell, temperature, and power generation time (S200), and it is determined whether or not a dry condition in the fuel circulation passage is solved (S300). When determined that the dry condition in the fuel circulation passage is not solved (S300, Yes), an amount of purge is calculated on the basis of a map after anode scavenging (S400).
