PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a PDP drive circuit which allows compatibility, between improvement of power efficiency by a collection circuit and securing of the steepness of a sustaining pulse edge. SOLUTION: The plasma display panel drive circuit includes: a discharge sustain pulse generating part 29, applying voltage to a pair of display electrodes via sustaining switching elements Q1 and Q2 from a sustaining voltage power supply Es, in order to perform sustain discharge in a display cell; and the collection circuit 33, including a collection capacitor C1, a collection inductor L1 and a collection switching element Q3, controlling connection of the collection capacitor and the pair of display electrodes. Furthermore, the drive circuit includes a power supply circuit 34, adjusting voltage with which the collection capacitor is charged. When a sustaining pulse voltage for performing the sustain discharge rises, the collection switching element is turned off, and the sustain switching element is turned on so that the sustaining pulse voltage is applied to the display electrode from the discharge sustain pulse generation part. When the sustaining pulse voltage falls, the collection switching element is turned on and the sustain switching element is turned off, so that the charge accumulated in the display electrode is collected by the collection capacitor.
