PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To protect a flexible substrate of a liquid crystal display device. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device includes a flexible wiring substrate 42 extending to a position opposed to a metal frame 44; and a light shielding tape 50 having a part located between a semiconductor integrated circuit 28 and a light source 32. The light shielding tape 50 includes a light shielding layer 56 having a first surface 52 facing a liquid crystal display panel 10 and a second surface 54 facing a backlight module 30, a first adhesive layer 48 formed on the first surface 52 of the light shielding layer 56 and having a part adhered to the liquid crystal display panel 10, and a second adhesive layer 60 formed on the second surface 54 of the light shielding layer 56 and having a part adhered to the backlight module 30. An insulating tape 62 is adhered to the first or second adhesive layer 58 or 60 between the liquid crystal display panel 10 and the backlight module 30, and extends to between the flexible wiring board 42 and the metal frame 44.
