PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for manufacturing a magnetic tape that reliability polishes the lateral edges of a tape body. SOLUTION: A cleaning apparatus 4 (a magnetic tape manufacturing apparatus) includes an edge polishing section 12 for polishing the lateral edges of the running magnetic tape T (tape body) cut to a predetermined width in contact with a polishing plate 22 (polisher). The edge polishing section 12 includes a guide roller 21 (first supporting member) for supporting the magnetic tape T on its circumferential surface.
