PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrode for use in generating chlorine, which has a low overvoltage, lowers oxygen gas concentration in chlorine gas, and has superior long-term durability. SOLUTION: The electrode for generating chlorine is an electrode having a coating layer of an electrode catalyst formed from palladium oxide (PdO) and platinum provided on the top surface of an electroconductive substrate.
