<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a casting mold for silicon casting, which can avoid contamination of a silicon ingot by oxygen from a mold release agent and ensures excellent adhesive property of the mold release agent to a casting mold, and a method for making a silicon ingot using a casting mold obtained by the method. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing a casting mold for silicon casting with a fired silicon nitride film 2 on its inner surface includes forming a silicon nitride film having a thickness of 150-600 μm and firing the silicon nitride film at a temperature of 780-1,700°C, wherein the silicon nitride film is formed by repeatedly carrying out a coating-drying operation including a coating operation for coating the inner surface of a casting mold 1 with slurry prepared by mixing silicon nitride powder having a particle diameter of 0.1-60 μm and an aqueous polyvinyl alcohol solution having concentration of 1-5 wt.% in a weight ratio of 1:(1-2), and a drying operation for drying the slurry at a temperature below the boiling point of the slurry.
