<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for storing a food product or the like, wherein gas in a packaging bag filled with the contents is expelled, thereby preventing a deterioration of the contents, the method being used to increase productivity in gas-removal packaging, eliminating the need for an expensive vacuum packaging machine, a high cost valve and carbon dioxide absorbent, also eliminating the need for an aging process, and preventing a deterioration of the contents by expelling not only gas produced during the storage but also air caused to enter when the package is filled with the contents. Ž<P>SOLUTION: Each packaging bag with a gas removal valve is filled with its contents and sealed. Then, many such packaging bags are arranged in a decompression container and decompressed simultaneously. Thereby air caused to enter when the packaging bags are filled with the contents is expelled through the gas removal valves and deterioration of the contents is prevented.
