<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a frequency of an operation defect of an optical disk device caused by to deterioration with the passage of time of a laser element, and to enhance reliability as the optical disk device. <P>SOLUTION: Laser elements 101a and 101b having the same wavelength bands are disposed in a semiconductor laser 101 and the switching of the laser elements is performed by a laser driving circuit 200. The switching of the laser elements is performed by determining e.g. the life of the laser elements. The laser driving circuit 200 performs the power control (APC) of the laser elements 101a and 101b so that an output from a front monitor 104 is made to be a prescribed value. When a driving current value Id applied when APC is stabilized exceeds a threshold Ish, it is determined that the laser elements 101a and 101b reach the life. The usage of the laser element reaching the life is stopped and switching to a usable laser element is performed. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
