PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the processing load during the detection processing of face from image data. SOLUTION: Feature data corresponding to a feature data group searched at step S105 are read out from a feature data table and registered on an RAM 29 (step S106). In other words, since the feature data group using the feature data have been determined by processing in step language set mode, the feature data corresponding to the determined feature data group (race) are read out from the feature data table. In order to use the feature data thus read out for face detection processing, they are registered on the RAM 29 and developed.
