摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve high-speed signal reading while reducing generation of noise due to interference between driving voltages when applying the two or more driving voltages to a capacitive load such as a CCD solid-state image pickup element. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The CCD solid-state image pickup element including a charge storage section between a vertical transfer register and a horizontal transfer register is used. By driving transfer in the direction of columns during an effective transfer period of transfer in the direction of rows, signal charges of one row generated by a light receiving sensor are then transferred to the charge storage section and further by driving the transfer outside the effective transfer period in the transfer in the direction of rows, signal charges of one row transferred to the charge storage section are transferred to the horizontal transfer register. Further, in driving in the row direction within the effective term of transfer, driving signals are driven with inverse phases for each of at least two driving signals. By driving the two driving signals with inverse phases, noise components caused by each of the driving signals also become inverse phases and operate to cancel noise as a result.
