PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a door safety device for an elevator, reduced in cost and saved in space, while preventing the deterioration of a cable extending from a detection means for detecting the operation of a safety shoe. SOLUTION: A wire 12 is tensioned in the door opening-closing direction in a position for abutting on the safety shoe 8 displaced upward while retreating from a steady resting position to a car side door 4, and a detection switch 13 for performing detecting operation in response to tension of its wire 12, is fixed to a car body 2. When the safety shoe 8 is displaced upward while retreating from the steady resting position, the tension of its wire 12 increases when its safety shoe 8 pushes up the wire 12, and the detection switch performs the detection operation.
