PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a highly safe rice cooker for easily and accurately detecting the abnormality of a temperature sensor which detects the temperature of an object to be cooked. SOLUTION: When a rice cooking button is pressed, temperature sensor abnormality detecting processing is started simultaneously with rice cooking processing. A difference between a detection temperature (initial detection temperature Q0) of the temperature sensor at the start of heating and a detection temperature (first detection temperature Q1) in the stage at which the first prescribed time t1 elapses from the start of heating is calculated, and whether the difference is equal to or smaller than a prescribed value Δγ is determined (S7). Then, when the difference is equal to or smaller than the prescribed value Δγ, it is determined that the temperature sensor is abnormal.
