PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a person who is in charge of maintenance of an information processing apparatus from initializing the apparatus without permission by an administrator. SOLUTION: The information processing apparatus which identifies a user through authorization at the time of log-in includes: a user information management means for determining whether or not a log-in user is an administrator or not; a maintenance operation processing means which shifts the information processing apparatus into a maintenance and inspection mode under the maintenance person upon receiving a predetermined operation; and a setting process means for accepting an administrator setting on the information processing apparatus from the administrator. The setting process means accepts a setting from the administrator whether to permit or prohibit initialization of the information processing apparatus in the maintenance and inspection mode.
