<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shielding device which changes the frequency of an electromagnetic wave to shield without extending an installation space. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The shielding device 1 includes: a metal conductor 11; a dielectric 12; a switching part 13; and a control part 20. The metal conductor 11 is, for example, a straight metal line of length L, and constitutes a group of the metal conductors arranged in proximity to one another on each straight line of a plurality of parallel straight lines. The dielectric 12 is base material, such as planar film which has dielectric property. The switching part 13 is a switch which switches to conduction state or non-conduction state between the adjacent metal conductors 11 arranged on the same straight line. The control section 20 switches on/off of each switching 13 so that the length, which is two times longer than that of a set of metal conductors 11 to be conduction state, becomes the same length as the wavelength of the instructed frequency, when the frequency of the electromagnetic wave to shield is instructed by, for example, an operation part (not shown).
