A handoff method and a mobile station are disclosed in the present invention, in which, the handoff method includes: the mobile station obtaining channel information of all the object area in a broadcast message of a neighbor base station tradition area through a prearranged form; after determining an object station according to the channel information of all the object area, the mobile station handing over from a service station to an object area of the determined object station according to the channel information of the determined object station. The technical scheme of the present invention realizes the purpose for a terminal handoff between a current station and a tradition station directly, and makes the terminal able to hand over among compatible systems rapidly and high effectively.
