PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mechanical opening and closing body stop device for an opening and closing apparatus, which makes an opening and closing body smoothly move for opening and closing without interfering with device components. SOLUTION: A locking wire 36 as a laying member is laid between a shutter curtain 1 as the opening and closing body vertically moving in an opening and closing manner, and a lintel 6 as an immovable member; and an end of the wire 36 is connected to a unit structure 45 which serves as a laying member connection device arranged in a lintel 16. The locking wire 36, which is moved with respect to the shutter curtain 1 by the opening and closing movement of the shutter curtain 1, is connected to the shutter curtain 1 with a mechanical connection device arranged in the shutter curtain 1, when the shutter curtain 1 abuts on the obstacle. The unit structure 45 is arranged away in the thickness direction of the shutter curtain 1 from a curtain opening and closing movement position P. A position Q to wind/unwind the shutter curtain 1 around/from a winding shaft 11 is located on the other side of the arrangement position of the unit structure 45 in the thickness direction of the shutter curtain 1, with respect to the position P.
