SOLUTION: The calcium hydroxide is produced by precipitating calcium hydroxide by subjecting to high temperature and pressure steam-curing a metallic material which has an electrodeposition-coated layer formed by electrodeposition-coating and a second coated layer formed by using a composition containing calcium silicate and a cementous coating containing a cement reaction inhibitor inhibiting hydration of the cement on the surface. The calcium hydroxide obtained has a maximum crystal size of ≥10 μm and ≤5,000 μm and has a ratio of the peak intensity I001of the (001) plane to the peak intensity I101of the (101) plane: (I001/I101) of ≥10 as determined by X-ray diffraction.
