<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an auxiliary brake system which enables smooth braking operation to be carried out in automatic cruising. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The auxiliary brake system 1 is provided at a prescribed position below the driver's seat of a vehicle 10 and includes a right-foot footrest 2, on which the right foot R of a driver is placed. In this auxiliary brake system 1, the right foot R of the driver can be placed on the right-foot footrest 2 to be rested thereon instead of the brake pedal, served as the footless, during ACC operation. This structure enables the right foot R to be shifted from the prescribed position (the right-foot footrest 2) to the brake pedal when braking the vehicle during the ACC operation.
