<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a punch press in which a servo motor can be miniaturized and in which vertical movement can be repeated at higher speed, in a punch press configured to vertically move a ram by rotating a screw mechanism with a servo motor. Ž<P>SOLUTION: This is the punch press in which a ram 1 is vertically moved by a screw mechanism 3. The punch press is equipped with a pair of driving shafts 17A, 17b linearly having a large diameter bevel gear 11 in the upper end of a freely rotatable driving screw 5 in the screw mechanism 3 and having a pair of small diameter bevel gears 13A, 13B meshed with the large diameter bevel gear 11. The driving shafts 17A, 17B are installed to be directly connected with separate servo motors 23A, 23B respectively. In a recess 19 in the axial direction formed on the tip end side 17BI of one driving shaft 17B, there is inserted the tip end side 17AI of the other driving shaft 17A and axially supported freely rotatably. The pair of driving shafts 17A, 17B are designed to have a both-end-supported structure, with the shafts axially supported on both sides of the small diameter bevel gears 15A, 15B provided on the respective driving shafts 17A, 17B.
