PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magneto-optical space light modulator, by which high definition and high speed response are made attainable and a light modulation degree is improved. SOLUTION: In the space light modulator 1 including a light modulating element 50 with pixels 4 two-dimensionally arranged, the light modulating element 50 has two spin injection light modulating elements 5 and 6 made to face the sides of respective magnetization inversion layers 53 and 63 sandwiching a connection layer 55, made of a non-magnetic metal and respective magnetization fixation layers 51 and 61 have magnetization directions fixed to be anti-parallel to each other. Since the spin injection light modulating elements 5 and 6 perform spin injection magnetization inversion, according to directions of current supplied from upper and lower electrodes 2 and 3, and the magnetization inversion layers 53 and 63 have the same magnetization direction, change in the optical rotation angle (θ<SB>Lr1</SB>,θ<SB>Dr1</SB>) due to the Faraday effect of the light made incident on the light modulating element 50 is increased, by transmitting through the two magnetization inversion layers 53 and 63.
