A method for inter relay interference coordination (IRIC) by a first relay node in a wireless communications system is described. A second relay node is communicated with over a relay interface. A first set of user equipment (UE) communication settings is received over the relay interface that corresponds to the second relay node. A second set of UE communication settings is determined that corresponds to the first relay node. The second set of UE communication settings is based on the first set of UE communication settings.
