A tool carrier, such as a compact loader (10), has a main frame formed as a transmission housing (12) that is all welded construction. The transmission housing (12) has drives (92, 94) from motors (128) and drive shafts (124) on each side of the transmission housing (12). The drives (92, 94) are in enclosed chain cases (14) forming integral parts of the transmission housing. The drive shafts (124) span the chain cases (14) and are supported on bearings (133, 138) on both ends. The drives (92, 94) in each of the chain cases (14) drive front (17A) and rear (17B) axles of the compact loader (10). Axle tubes (106, 118) also are welded in place on the transmission housing (12). The rear portions of the transmission housing (12) have support arm castings (114) supported in and closing the ends of the power drive cases or chain (14). The support arm castings (114) provide support for mounting lift arms (28) for the compact loader (10).
|
