<p>The present invention relates to a method for producing eukaryotic organisms having enhanced pathogen resistance and/or resistance to stress, comprising the step of expressing in the cytosol of said organisms a glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase with increased NADPH tolerance compared to the endogenous cytosolic glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase. Furthermore, the present invention relates to the respective eukaryotic transgenic organisms showing enhanced pathogen resistance and/or resistance to stress.</p>
