A money collection box, such as a charity box, with anti-theft features comprises: a container (16) into which money can be inserted; a base (12) on which the box can be stood on a support surface (14); a detecting system (82,88,90,92,94) for detecting a parameter indicative of removal of the base from the support surface and/or removal of the container from the base; and an alarm system for producing an alarm in response to such detection. The base (12) may have an alarmed suction cup (74) for attaching the box to the support surface without damaging the support surface. The container may be coupled to the base by an alarmed coupling (46,50) which can be uncoupled to gain access to an opening for emptying the container of its contents. |
