The transmission (15) has two actuators (21, 23) for changing two sets of gears in synchronizing devices (25, 27), respectively, where the two sets of gears are complementary to each other. An electronic control (24) controls the actuators in a parking lock position, such that the actuators change the gears, respectively, and lock the transmission. The actuators are formed as electrical control elements, solenoids, electric motors, or pneumatic or hydraulic control elements. The actuators are actuated in a downtime of the transmission, such that two sets of the gears are changed. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating a multi-speed transmission.
