PURPOSE: A defective pixel correction device and a method thereof are provided to rapidly confirm the defect of a current pixel or peripheral pixel and to calculate a correction pixel value using the pixel value of stable peripheral pixels. CONSTITUTION: A defective pixel correction device includes a content addressed memory unit(150), a defective pixel detection unit(110), a peripheral pixel defect detection unit(120), a defective pixel correction unit(130), and a counter unit(140). The content addressed memory unit stores the location information of a defective pixel of an image sensor. The detective pixel detection unit calculates the location of a current pixel to search the content addressed memory unit and decides whether the pixel is a defective pixel. The peripheral pixel defect detection unit calculates the location of a pixel required for correction to search the content addressed memory unit and decides whether the pixel is a defective pixel. The defective pixel correction unit uses at least one peripheral pixel value among peripheral pixels except for detective pixels to calculate a correction pixel value.
