A retention device (45) prevents release of burned gases from the combustion chamber (112) during the exhaust stroke, i.e. it causes a fraction of them to be retained in the combustion chamber. A recycling device (46) returns a fraction of the burned gases, which would otherwise be released from the combustion chamber during the exhaust stroke. It returns them back into the combustion chamber, during the subsequent inlet stroke. |
