Heading D2A: A calender has at least two rollers, with each roller being cleaned by a rotating cylindrical brush. Each brush at the point of contact with its roller moves in the opposite direction thereto at a faster peripheral speed. Each brush is cleaned by a comb and ,is partially encased in a suction housing. The brushes may have polyamide bristles. The brushes, which are adjustably mounted, are driven by belts from the calender rollers, or by separate motors. |
