A method and a system for offering a data storage service for storing data stored in a mobile or fixed terminal to an external mass storage server, and an event promotion method linked with the same are provided to enable a mobile user to receive various benefits and enable an advertiser to collect AD(Advertisement) targets easily by storing and using a directory of the mobile users for AD or PR(Public Relation). An upload request including first ID information of data stored in a user terminal is received from the user terminal(S302). The received data is backed up by assigning second ID information in a data storage server(S304). A mapping table is formed by matching the first ID information with the second ID information(S306).
