A tester for testing a device under test with a plurality of output terminals. The tester comprises a testing section which performs a test sequence for testing a device under test and designates the output terminal whose matching status should be detected on every matching detection cycle for detecting matching status where the output signal of the device under test is matched to the expected value as a requirement for proceeding with a test sequence, a plurality of pin matching detection sections which are provided corresponding to each of a plurality of output terminals and output pin matching signals indicating that the output signals of the corresponding output terminals are matched, a plurality of forced matching sections which are provided corresponding to each of a plurality of pin matching detection sections and force pin matching signals corresponding to the output terminals non-targeted for matching status detection into matching status, and a whole matching detection section which outputs a whole matching signal in response to a result that each of a plurality of pin matching detection sections outputs a pin matching signal indicating matching of the output signal with the expected value.
