1,141,231. Continuous-casting machines; dividing by fusion. MESSER GRIESHEIM G.m.b.H. 30 Jan., 1967 [3 March, 1966], No. 4472/67. Headings B3F and B3V. A flame-cutting machine for severing horizontal continuous castings, has two cutting torches 15, 16 movable towards each other across the casting, and a releasable holding device 19 for supporting the cut-off workpiece 18 and which engages therewith before cutting is completed. The casting is preferably a slab movable along rollers 11 and the cutting machine runs along parallel rails 13. During cutting the machine is clamped to the casting by a device 14. The workpiece 18 to be cut-off along line 17 is gripped by spaced pins 22 on pivoted jaws 21 actuated by pistons (23), Fig. 2 (not shown), in a common cylinder (24) or alternatively in separate cylinders. The workpiece 18 falls into a container 20. Clamping devices 14, 19 may be of similar construction and operated by the same fluid pressure system. As shown the workpiece 18 is a headpiece for discard. Larger sections or the head may be transported away by the clamping device 19.
|
