Resistor 10 comprises a printed or otherwise applied layer 14 of finely divided metal and/or metal oxide on an insulating substrate 12 e.g. alumina, and a layer 18 of polyimide and/or polyamide-polyimide overlying and bonded to layer 14. Layer 18, as well as providing a protective seal, is said to stabilize the metalmetal oxide equilibrium and prevent resistance drift. Layer 16 preferably consists of palladium and palladium oxide, or indium oxide, or a mixture of a glass frit with palladium and silver, or with a palladium or indium semi-conductor doped with antimony, chromium, titanium or sodium ions. The polyimide or polyamidepolyimide may be applied as a solution of a partially polymerized precursor, stepwise heating being employed to dry off solvent and complete polymerization. |
