PURPOSE: A communication method using multi-carrier and apparatus thereof reduces the signaling overhead according to the administration of activation or the deactivation carrier wave and indication among a plurality of carrier waves. CONSTITUTION: A BS(base station) sends the multiple carrier wave information to the MS(Mobile Station)(S310). A mobile station sends the multiple carrier capability to the base station(S320). The base station informs allocated carrier waves to the mobile station(S330). The base station activates the carrier wave 2 and carrier wave 3(S340). The mobile station gets the system information(S351, S352). The mobile station attempts the periodic ranges(S361, S362). The base station and mobile station transmit and receive data through activated second carrier waves(S381, S382).
