THE PRESENT INVENTION RELATES TO A BATCH DRYING APPARATUS (1) FOR PARTICULATES. THE PHYSICAL AND STRUCTURAL CONFIGURATIONS OF THE HOLDING CHAMBER (2) OF THE BATCH DRYING APPARATUS (1) OF THIS INVENTION ARE CONSTRUCTED SO AS TO MAINTAIN SUBSTANTIALLY CONSTANT WIDTH OR THICKNESS OF A BODY OF PARTICULATES THROUGH WHICH HEATED GASES FLOW THROUGH SUBSTANTIALLY HORIZONTALLY. THIS UNIFORMITY IN WIDTH OR THICKNESS IS ACHIEVED BY PROVIDING THE HOLDING CHAMBER (2) WITH TWO UPRIGHT, SUBSTANTIALLY PARALLEL LONGITUDINAL WALLS (32,33) WITH PERFORATIONS (36) THEREON, JOINED AT THEIR ENDS BY TWO TRANSVERSE WALLS (34) MAKING UP THE WIDTH OF THE HOLDING CHAMBER (2), WITH THE LENGTH OF THE TRANSVERSE WALLS (34) SHORTER THAN THAT OF THE LONGITUDINAL WALLS (32,33). THE BATCH DRYING APPARATUS (1) INCLUDES A MEANS OF DETERMINING THE MOISTURE CONTENT OF THE PARTICULATES USING A WEIGHING METHOD, AND/OR A SEPARATE MEANS USING CAPACITIVE SENSORS INTEGRATED INTO AND FORMING PART OF THE WALLS (32,33,34) OF THE HOLDING CHAMBER (2) OF THE APPARATUS. AGAIN THE PHYSICAL AND STRUCTURAL CONSTRUCTIONS OF THE HOLDING CHAMBER (2) ARE IMPORTANT ATTRIBUTES ESSENTIAL FOR THE FUNCTIONING OF THE MOISTURE MEASUREMENT MEANS MENTIONED ABOVE.FIG. 9
