#CMT# #/CMT# Preparing aluminum sulfate comprises treatment of an aluminous material by sulfuric acid having a concentration of 95 wt.% and thermal treatment of a reaction mass, where the aluminous material is utilized in a mass fraction of aluminum oxide (20-27%), and is moistened before mixing with sulfuric acid, the treatment of the obtained reaction mass is carried out at 320-350[deg] C for 2-4 hours, and the sulfated product is then leached by water at 80-90[deg] C until the pH is 3.5-4, after which the pulp is filtered, evaporated and crystallized to give aluminum sulfate. #CMT# : #/CMT# Preparing aluminum sulfate comprises treatment of an aluminous material by sulfuric acid having a concentration of 95 wt.% and thermal treatment of the obtained reaction mass, where the aluminous material is utilized in a mass fraction of aluminum oxide (20-27%), and is moistened before mixing with sulfuric acid, the treatment of the obtained reaction mass is carried out at a temperature of 320-350[deg] C for 2-4 hours, and the sulfated product is then leached by water in a ratio of 2-4 parts of volume by sulfate product weight at a temperature of 80-90[deg] C until the pH is 3.5-4, after which the pulp is filtered, evaporated and crystallized to give aluminum sulfate. #CMT#USE : #/CMT# The process is useful for the preparation of the aluminum sulfate, which is useful for wastewater treatment, drinking water, and in the paper industry, textile industry, leather industry, cement industry or construction industry. #CMT#ADVANTAGE : #/CMT# The process is simple and economical for the preparation of the aluminum sulfate. #CMT#INORGANIC CHEMISTRY : #/CMT# Preferred Process: The filtrate is evaporated to obtain a density of 1.4-1.5 g/cm 3>, preferably 1.45 g/cm 3>. The leaching is carried out: for 3 hours; and with 3 parts by volume water by parts of sulfated product weight. The process comprises using kaolin as aluminous material, and neutralizing the pulp in the presence of free sulfuric acid, to obtain the pH of 4 by a prescribed quantity of calcined kaolin by mixing for one hour. #CMT#EXAMPLE : #/CMT# Aluminum oxide (22%), iron oxide (2.1), silicon oxide (63), calcium oxide (0.45), magnesium oxide (0.05), titanium oxide (0.57), potassium oxide and sodium oxide (2.1) were mixed with sulfuric acid (310 ml) until to obtain pulp. Then furnace was heated at 320-350[deg] C and maintained at the temperature for 3 hours until white fumes (sulfur dioxide and sulfur trioxide) disappeared. The product was discharged from the oven and cooled after leaching. The product was kneaded at 80-90[deg] C for 3 hours and until the pH was 3.5-4. Then the pulp was decanted and filtered in a vacuum filter. The filtrate was separated from the insoluble precipitate. The filtrate having an initial density of 1.24-1.27 g/cm 3>(90 g/l of aluminum sulfite) was evaporated to density of 1.45 g/cm 3>and worked up to obtain aluminum sulfate. |
