The engine (1) has an exhaust system (3) and an intake system (2) that includes a compressor (5), which is driven by an exhaust gas turbine (4). An exhaust gas recirculation system (13) has an exhaust gas recirculation line (13a) for recirculating exhaust gas from the exhaust system to the intake system. The exhaust gas is recirculated with aid a compressed air system (14) using a venturi device (12), where the compressed air system has another compressor (10) that is mechanically driven.
