A diagnostic composition for detecting couplable components in body fluids, comprises a tablet or absorbent carrier containing a triazene or a salt thereof of formula <FORM:1117250/B1-B2/1> in which Z is:- <FORM:1117250/B1-B2/2> or <FORM:1117250/B1-B2/3> wherein X is O, S or = N-R1, R1 is H or an alkyl or aryl radical, R2 is carboxyalkyl, carboxyaryl, sulphoalkyl or sulphoaryl or R1 and R2 together with the linking N form a ring and A, B and C may be H, halogeno, nitro, sulphonyl, alkyl, aryl, acyl, alkoxy, acylamino or sulphonamido. The salt may be of ammonium, alkali metal (Na), alkaline earth metal (Ca, Ba) or a heavy metal (defined) (Zn). The following triazenes are referred to: 3-methyl-3-carboxy-methyl-1-(p-nitrophenyl)-triazene, 3-methyl-3-carboxy-methyl-1-(2/sv, 4/sv-dichlorophenyl)-triazene, 3-methyl-3-carboxy-methyl-1-(p-acetyl-phenyl)-triazene, 3, 3-(2/sv-carboxy-tetramethylene)-1-(p-nitrophenyl)-triazene, 3-methyl-3-sulphoethyl-1-(p-nitrophenyl)-triazene, 3-methyl-3-carboxymethyl-1-(2-methoxy-5-methyl-4 -benzoylaminophenyl)-triazene, 3-methyl-3-carboxy-methyl-1-(2-methoxy-5-benzoylaminophenyl) -triazene and 3-methyl-3-carboxymethyl-1-(2-methoxy-5-n-butyl-sulphonamido -phenyl)-triazene. In examples, solutions in acetone, methanol or water of some of the above triazenes are incorporated into filter paper and in addition sodium carbonate and sulphosalicylic acid may be present. Specified couplable substances are: oxalacetic acid (glutamate-oxalate-transaminase test), creatinine, phenylpyruvic acid, acetoacetic acid, a -naphthyl-amine (leucine-amino peptidase test), bilirubin and the glucuronide thereof. |
