The apparatus (10) has a tracer (30) carried by a turret (32), and a mount-carrier (28) with immobilization units (74A, 74B) immobilizing circles (18A, 18B) of mounts and defining an average immobilization plane (P2) of the circles. Pivoting units (35) pivot the mount-carrier relative to a frame (26) around a horizontal rotational axis (E-E') perpendicular to a vertical rotational axis (B-B'), between reference and inclined positions. The horizontal axis and the turret are located on both sides of the average plane, and the horizontal axis is entirely extended away from the mount-carrier. An independent claim is also included for a method for tracing an optical glass mount in a tracing apparatus.
