The system (3) has a controller (30) connected to a pressure sensor (4) and a crankshaft angle sensor (5) to calculate instantaneous average torques respectively for combustion cycles of an internal combustion engine with and without post injection of fuel. The controller compares the calculated torques to determine injected real quantity of the fuel. The injected real quantity is compared with a cartographic quantity in a database (35) of the controller to correct the real quantity of the fuel for post injection by a correction loop (340) when the quantities are different. An independent claim is also included for a method for correcting fuel quantity for post injection assisting production of torque of an internal combustion engine.
