<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form a simulation image by image processing using a computer, which increases or decreases the unevenness of color caused by a spot etc. while retaining a natural touch of quality and a color of skin. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In regard to the skin of an examinee, an internal reflection optical image and a surface reflection optical image are obtained. Through independent component analysis, the images are separated into an internal reflection optical image of a melanin component and an internal reflection optical image other than the melanin component. The internal reflection optical image of the melanin component is decomposed into a plurality of spatial frequency bands. Each contrast of the internal reflection optical images of the melanin component decomposed into the plurality of spatial frequency bands is selectively changed. Next, by composing each internal reflection optical image of the melanin component of the plurality of spatial frequency bands, a modified internal reflection optical image of the melanin component is formed. By composing the corrected internal reflection optical image of the melanin component with the internal reflection optical image other than the melanin component, a composed internal reflection optical image is formed. By composing the composed internal reflection optical image with the surface reflection optical image, the color unevenness of the skin is changed, so that the simulation image is formed.
