PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vacuum cleaner capable of controlling the operation output of an electric blower in response to the property of a surface to be cleaned where a suction port body is travelled, while including a rotary cleaning body to be rotated in the forward or backward direction of the advance direction by a motor-driven machine. SOLUTION: The vacuum cleaner 1 includes: an operation part 6; an electric blower 9; a switching element 37, a switching element 38; an electric current detecting part 40; a cleaner body power source circuit 41; a cleaner body control part 42; a suction port body power source circuit 44; a moving direction detecting part 36; a suction port body control part 45; a polarity inverting circuit part 46; and the motor-driven machine 13. When an electric current value i detected by the electric current detecting part 40 becomes equal to or more than an inversion determination threshold Irt, the cleaner body control part 42 controls the power to be supplied to the electric blower 9, based on the electric current value i which is detected by the electric current detecting part 40 within a prescribed detection time Ts after a prescribed standby time Tw elapses, and then, controls the operation output of the electric blower 9.
