PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a signal band extension device and a signal band extension method, for generating a wide band signal of high sound quality faithful to original sound. SOLUTION: A linear prediction analysis part 301 performs linear prediction analysis to an input signal x[n] band-limited to narrow band to obtain an M-order linear prediction coefficient LPC[f, d]. An inverse filter 302 obtains a linear prediction residual error signal by forming an inverse filter A(z) based on the linear prediction coefficient LPC[f, d] and passing the input signal x[n] to the inverse filter A(z). A formant emphasis part 303 performs formant emphasis to the linear prediction residual error signal to emphasize the difference between mountain and valley of formant of the linear prediction residual error signal.
