<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a perpendicular type SMT connector that is excellent in mounting strength to a substrate. <P>SOLUTION: The perpendicular type SMT connector 1 has a housing 10 formed by resin molding and having an almost rectangular-parallelepiped container shape, a lead 20 electrically connected with the corresponding male connector, and a peg 30 as a fixing member for mounting and fixing to a substrate by solder. An abutting part 31 of the peg 30 is formed into a flat ring shape, thereby allowing setting of a large area soldered to the substrate 50. By this, it is possible to firmly fix the perpendicular type SMT connector 1 to the substrate 50 without increasing a mounting area on the substrate 50.
