PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric vehicle that safely protects a railroad vehicle against any ground-fault accident even under any environment. SOLUTION: The electric vehicle travels while receiving high-voltage power. The electric vehicle includes: a vehicle body having a ceiling; a high-voltage apparatus mounted to the vehicle body; a pantograph 22 provided on the ceiling of the vehicle body so as to be contactable with a trolley wire; a high-voltage circuit 27 for leading high-voltage power, received by the pantograph from the trolley wire, to the high-voltage apparatus; and an arcing horn 34 that includes a high-voltage-side electrode 47 connected to the high-voltage-circuit side and a ground-side electrode 48, which is provided in the vehicle body and connected to ground potential while facing the high-voltage-side electrode at an interval, and discharges when the voltage of the trolley wire is abnormally increased.
