PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the spectrum width of a quantum dot ensemble by using a method other than crystal growth technology. SOLUTION: A method of manufacturing an optical device includes: a process in which a first substrate having the quantum dot ensemble is prepared; a process in which a second substrate for connecting the first substrate and a wafer is prepared; a process in which an SOD (Spin On Dielectric) is applied on the upper face of at least one of the first and the second substrates; a process in which the side of the first substrate, on which the quantum dot ensemble is formed, and the second substrate are connected; a process in which the connected substrates are heated; and a process in which the first substrate is made into a thin film.
