PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide vehicle driving support capable of supporting properly control with respect to a sideway obstacle, while reducing control of imparting unfamiliar feeling to a driver. SOLUTION: This vehicle driving support device/method predicts a future position of own vehicle after a prescribed time, when detecting the obstacle existing in a sideway of the own vehicle. The vehicle driving support device/method calculates a degree of risk with respect to the obstacle, based on the predicted future position of the own vehicle. The vehicle driving support device/method controls the own vehicle to prevent approach to the obstacle, in response to the calculated degree of risk with respect to the obstacle, but restrains the control of preventing the approach to the obstacle, when detecting an intention, of the driver, of changing a lane to an adjacent lane opposite to the obstacle.
