<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display medium and a method of manufacturing the display medium, restraining adhesion of particles to a wall surface and achieving improvement in durability as compared with a display medium configured so that a water repellent layer having water repellency is simply provided on opposite surfaces of a pair of substrates. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The display medium 10 is manufactured as follows. A first water repellent layer 26 is formed on the inner peripheral surface of a recessed part 24, and the interior of the recessed part 24 is filled with a particle-contained dispersed medium 30. Further a display substrate 13 provided with a curable resin layer 27 put in the uncured state is superposed thereon with the curable resin layer 27 in contact with an opening side of the recessed part 24 and the first water repellent layer 26, and after that, curing stimulus for curing the curable resin layer 27 is applied to cure the curable resin layer 27, which is formed into a second water repellent layer 28.
