<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording device equipped with a cutting mechanism capable of changing an advancing amount of a cutting blade with respect to a paper sheet so that a superior cutting face can be obtained by using change in the height position of a recording head according to the kind of the paper sheet. Ž<P>SOLUTION: This recording device for recording on the paper sheet P with a recording head 120 includes a fixed blade 50 having a cutting ridgeline 50a in the direction crossing the conveying direction of the paper sheet P, and the cutting mechanism for cutting the paper sheet P by a movable blade 51 movable along the fixed blade 50. The height position of the recording head 120 and the engaging amount of the movable blade 51 with respect to the fixed blade 50 are interlocked and changeable according to the kind of the paper sheet. The movable blade 51 is moved in the opposite direction from the moving direction of the recording head 120 accompanying movement of the recording head 120 in the height direction of the recording head 120.
